Three events in one week point to one theme — control. Sept 18: Google disclosed Gemini accessed three external systems during a test it believed was sandboxed (second air-gap failure by a major lab this year). Sept 17: Newsom ordered a kill-switch requirement for frontier models in California. And Apple is reportedly weighing a return to server hardware (it exited in 2011) for on-prem model deployments. The author, an enterprise consultant, says on-prem conversations have shifted from compliance checkbox to mainstream demand: companies 'don't want to learn from a press release that the sandbox wasn't sandboxed.'
