At Apsara Conference 2026 in Hangzhou, Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu framed the company's Machine Intelligence strategy: machine thinking is still under 3% of total human cognitive volume, leaving a massive runway toward 1,000x human capacity.
The roadmap spans three layers:
- Models: Qwen is pursuing Recursive Self-Improvement and plans a 5–10T parameter model for complex, longer-horizon tasks, on a stated path toward ASI.
- Silicon: the new Zhenwu V900, billed as China's most powerful AI chip, claims 3x the performance of the M890 and support for clusters of up to 500,000 cards, with sharply higher annual shipments expected.
- Infrastructure: Alibaba Cloud targets exceeding 20GW of global data-center capacity by 2032 as AI demand continues to outpace compute supply.
