UiPath founder Daniel Dines pushed back on Harry Stebbings' "verifiability" test on 20VC: what determines whether AI replaces a job isn't measurability, but who gets to define the frame — lawyers made themselves fully verifiable via billable hours and were cut anyway.
The post also cites hard data: New York requires employers cutting 50+ jobs to disclose whether automation drove it ($500/day civil penalty). Of 162 filings, zero boxes were checked — including companies that told investors the same quarter that AI drove those exact cuts. Nobody has built a standing tracker for this yet, and whoever does becomes the citable source.
