Mathematicians' biggest AI threat isn't engineers — it's junior peers wielding AI tools

Rex Douglass argues the biggest threat to anti-AI mathematicians isn't engineers but fellow mathematicians who will use AI tools to take their jobs. A "DOGE for math" is ridiculous partly because hungry junior researchers will mechanically outnumber entrenched professors and use these tools to solve problems and establish themselves — competition within the guild is the immediate threat.
