AWS Open-Sources Strands Harness, Claims 28% Fewer Agent Tokens

On Sep 21, AWS's Strands Agents team open-sourced Strands harness, a fully assembled agent framework (Apache 2.0) that runs locally or in a Linux container, starts with one line of Python/TypeScript, and plugs into Bedrock, Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or local models via Ollama. AWS tests show 28% lower token cost on the same Claude or GPT models — most of the token bill sits in the wrap around the model.
