28 House Democrats Urge US-China AI Safety Dialogue with Beijing

Rep. Gregory Meeks, Ami Bera, Sara Jacobs and 26 other House Democrats sent a letter urging Secretaries Rubio and Bessent to open sustained AI diplomacy with China, proposing shared safety standards and red lines, a standing crisis-communications channel, curbs on third-party proliferation of advanced AI, and US-China researcher dialogue on AI risks. The letter warns AI models could enable deadly pathogens or attacks on critical infrastructure.
