Per The Information, Anthropic is in early talks to lease up to 1GW of compute capacity from Stream, a data center developer majority-owned by Apollo Global Management, which claims over 4GW of powered land.
- Facilities could host Google TPUs co-designed with Broadcom; Nvidia GPUs also under discussion
- The move bypasses the traditional cloud-provider layer, giving Anthropic more control over chip supply, hardware config and costs
- Tradeoff: Anthropic takes on more financing and operational responsibility itself
