In a thread about the Asimov 1 humanoid stand-up demo, the team explains a previously unmentioned safety design: you can't simply plank-lift the robot from the floor because a built-in feature auto-enters damp mode past a tilt threshold, preventing a fully stiff fall that would damage the motors.
