OpenAI's GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna go live in GitHub Copilot, Luna is the cheapest tier

GitHub announced two new OpenAI models in Copilot, joining the previously released GPT-6 Astra:
- GPT-6 Sol: a balanced model for interactive and agentic coding, suited to multistep development tasks.
- GPT-6 Luna: a lightweight, cost-efficient model for smaller, faster tasks — the lowest-cost option in the GPT-6 family. Both are billed usage-based.
Sol requires Copilot Pro+, Max, Business, or Enterprise; Luna is available on all paid plans including Pro. They can be selected in VS Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, the cloud agent, JetBrains, Xcode, Eclipse, GitHub Mobile, and more. Business/Enterprise admins can manage access via model policy; rollout is gradual.
