X launches X Numbers: a phone-number-like handle for direct DMs and calls

X rolled out X Numbers, giving each user a phone-number-like contact number for X Chat: share it and people can DM or call you directly without following back or message requests — messages land in your main inbox even when the inbox is closed. Numbers can be refreshed (invalidating the old one), shared, or hidden, making them handy for business outreach, recruiting, and event contact. Setup: open Chat → Number in the inbox dropdown → toggle Enabled → Share.
