X launches X Numbers: phone-number-style handles for direct DMs and calls

X has rolled out X Numbers, assigning each user a phone-number-like handle. Share your number and the other person can message or call you directly in X Chat — no mutual follow or message request needed.
The feature lets users receive outreach from chosen contacts without opening their DMs to all strangers, replacing the follow-back dance with a simple number exchange.
