Why OpenAI's vertical push into law and finance is 'dead on arrival'
nicolechirps · x · 2026-09-23
Ivan Burazin argues that OpenAI's attempts to go vertical into law, finance, or medicine are dead on arrival — Anthropic already tried with Claude Design and nobody talks about it anymore. Going up the stack is far harder than people think: every vertical has an incumbent that became the default, and once that happens, switching costs are purely social, not about price or features.
Nicole adds that success isn't only up to frontier labs — executives need to stop 'renting intelligence' and handing frontier labs their data and evals on a platter.
