Okta launches Human Principal, binding AI agents to verified humans via World ID
BecauseCulture · x · 2026-09-23
Okta (Auth0) announced Human Principal, now in early-access beta: developers can use World ID to verify that an AI agent is backed by a real, verified human, cryptographically bound to a device.
- The trust problem: AI agents are rapidly outnumbering humans, and auth stacks built for human identity can't answer 'who does this agent represent'
- The scope has evolved from binding agents to one user's permissions to securing autonomous agents acting for teams and spawning agent fleets
- World Network argues World ID is more privacy-preserving than Real ID, airport face scans, or selfie verification on gaming and dating apps
A landmark integration of proof-of-human infrastructure into the agentic web.
