Researcher Afinetheorem issued a public challenge amid the French AI-novel controversy: donate $1,000 to charity if anyone can find a pre-2022 French literary text of 1,000+ words (with an Internet Archive link) that Pangram flags as 100% AI-generated. He claims no such text exists.
More concerning, he notes, is that a book can win prizes for 'great writing' while random readers on Babelio and Reddit have said for months that it 'just reads like AI'. Another researcher joined in with a matching $1,000 challenge, arguing it's no accident that many articles by the author are flagged as 100% AI.
