Schmidhuber rebuts Musk's AI timeline: no robot can match a plumber, let alone beat science by 2028

Jürgen Schmidhuber pushed back on the claim that AI will surpass all fields of science by 2028, reiterating his long-standing view: today's effective AI lives only behind the screen — summarizing documents, playing chess, proving theorems, generating images, code and slides. No AI-controlled robot can do what a plumber — or even a capuchin monkey — can do, because the physical world is far more demanding. He argues the Turing Test is therefore a poor measure of intelligence, and software research alone won't achieve "True AI." The poster sides with Schmidhuber over Elon Musk on this debate.
