Schmidhuber argued that self-driving cars are "very simple robots" with only 2 degrees of freedom, and that Dickmanns had truly self-driving cars in traffic back in 1994. Yet 32 years later the problem remains unsolved — his takeaway: physical AI is a slow game, and embodied intelligence will mature far more slowly than software.
