Yarin Gal: I Ignore Papers Where the Candidate Isn't First or Last Author

Yarin Gal shares his standard when reviewing postdoc and research scientist applicants: he ignores all papers where the candidate is not first or last author.
His default assumption is that an author 12th from the end just "happened to be in the room" and contributed little, unless stated otherwise. He still encourages collaborations, but requires every student to lead and own at least one project.
