Industrial machine vision leader Cognex is acquiring RealSense for $500 million. RealSense spun out of Intel just 439 days ago; since then, under CEO Nadav Orbach, with offices in Cupertino, Beijing and Haifa, it has:
- Tripled quarterly revenue and posted two profitable quarters
- Returned 6x on capital to investors, with 50%+ revenue growth in 2026 and expected revenue of $80-90M this year
Cognex is paying for what it sees as "the visual cortex of Physical AI": depth cameras and 3D perception systems deployed across humanoids, AMRs, quadrupeds, industrial arms and autonomous systems.
