Anthropic: Opus 5.5 development was somewhat AI-accelerated, but not dramatically

In a statement on AI R&D and recursive self-improvement, Anthropic says the development of Opus 5.5 was at least somewhat accelerated by AI, but unlikely to have been dramatically accelerated. It's a notable official position: AI-assisted research is having real effect, but the company pushes back on claims of an explosive feedback loop.
