Claude Opus 5.5 lands on Amazon Bedrock with lower pricing and built-in safety classifiers

AWS announced Claude Opus 5.5 on Amazon Bedrock and Claude Platform on AWS — Anthropic's most capable Opus, first of the Claude 5.5 family, aimed at agentic coding and long-running tasks. Key points:
- Efficiency and pricing: does more with fewer tokens than Opus 5, with lower per-token prices and much cheaper cache reads, cutting average cost per task.
- Adaptive thinking always on: the model decides how much reasoning each task needs, with effort as the control knob, and surfaces what it did, found, and needs.
- Safety classifiers: first Opus with built-in classifiers for biology, cybersecurity, and AI development (similar to Claude Fable 5.1), refusing requests more often than prior versions.
- Availability: model ID global.anthropic.claude-opus-5-5, callable via Boto3 Invoke/Converse or the Anthropic Messages API; available across US/EU/AU/JP/Global CRIS inference profiles plus us-east-1 and ap-southeast-4.
