Stripe adds WebMCP to Checkout UIs, cutting agent token use 42% and tool calls 38%

Stripe rolled out WebMCP support across its Checkout UIs. In benchmarking, agents completing payments with WebMCP access consumed 42% fewer tokens and invoked 38% fewer tools, showing that a standardized in-page protocol beats chatty tool calls for agent workflows.
