Anthropic engineer mikeyk announced Claude Opus 5.5: API pricing drops to $4/million input and $20/million output tokens (20% cheaper than Opus 5), with cache reads 60% cheaper.
Subscribers get raised five-hour usage limits plus a banked rate-limit reset they can spend whenever needed. The company claims the model leads on coding and knowledge work, writes well, performs at Claude Fable 5.1 level for most tasks, and costs 40% less to run than Opus 5.
