Rabbit announced OS3, an "agentic operating system" that runs across screens you already own — desktop browser, Telegram, even iMessage — and also ships as a software update for the R1 hardware.
- It's a striking pivot for a company that launched the R1 at CES 2024 to sidestep mobile apps; the device earned scathing reviews (WIRED gave it 3/10) as its agentic features didn't work well.
- CEO Jesse Lyu insists the R1 wasn't a flop, noting Rabbit used a virtual machine to execute app actions on users' behalf "a year and a half ago," long before Meta's Muse agent was banned from crawling Amazon to shop for users.
