Students need both tech-free reasoning spaces and AI-enabled creation, not consumption

Drawing on tech history, the author argues for intentionality rather than rejection: students need technology-free spaces to read, write, discuss and reason — where critical thinking is built — and spaces where AI is used to build and create things they couldn't before, not to consume. Both matter.
