A Reddit post uses the classic WoW 'Onyxia deep breath' meme to frame today's Claude experience: players once superstitiously guessed the raid boss mechanic's triggers, and Blizzard later admitted a patch had unintentionally increased its frequency — so users were sometimes paranoid and sometimes right, with no way to tell from outside.
The author says Claude feels the same: sessions hitting limits before lunch, lazier responses, ignored instructions — but he can't distinguish quiet limit changes from peak load, longer context eating tokens, or his own pattern-matching in noise.
He notes Anthropic's own postmortem last year confirmed infra bugs degraded response quality for weeks, after which many complaints had been dismissed. His ask isn't accusation but visibility: per-message token counts, clearer usage breakdowns, and status notes when the backend changes — 'give us the combat log, basically.'
