A recap of Apple and Qualcomm's 17-year feud: since 2007, Qualcomm charged licensing fees on every iPhone based on the whole device price, not the chip cost. In 2017 Apple sued for $1 billion over unfair licensing; the battle spanned 2 years and 6 countries. They settled in 2019 with Apple paying an estimated $4.5-4.7 billion and signing a new multi-year agreement.
