A Microsoft internal document cited in litigation describes a "doom loop" where generative AI products are killing "the entire web." It adds that almost no one intended their content to be used this way nor are they compensated, and that millions will soon view LLMs "hoovering up" their work as an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions.
A Microsoft executive called it "the largest theft of labor in human history," and executives at both Microsoft and OpenAI admitted in testimony what critics have long argued.
