Ex-Samsung Engineer Launches Open-Source Robot Vacuum OOMWOO, Hits Thousands of Stars in 44 Days

The thread frames the robot vacuum industry as subscription-in-disguise: $549–$1,399 per unit, $2,798 for two floors, plus endless consumables. iRobot built a $3.5B company on that model, filed Chapter 11 in December 2025, and was bought outright by a Chinese contract manufacturer.
