Oxford professor mulls lab policy: LLMs as reviewers, never writers
yaringal · x · 2026-09-22
Oxford professor Yarin Gal is considering enforcing an LLM policy in his lab: LLMs may be used as reviewers — e.g. flagging ambiguity or grammar issues — but must never make changes or generate text directly, so prompts like 'write an intro from this abstract' would be banned. He asked the community for thoughts, offering a template for academic LLM norms.
