AI Detector Flags a 10-Year-Old Human Essay as AI; Data-Selling Doubts Raised

French developer gchampeau tested Pangram, an AI-text detector that claims to spot AI-generated writing (such as the latest Goncourt winner), and its verdict on an essay he wrote 10 years ago was that it was AI-generated — he says he's almost offended.
Jili Jeanlouis replied that authentic, non-AI human text is now worth a fortune to AI vendors, and questioned whether such detectors' business model is selling that genuine data to LLM companies at a premium (he notes he doesn't know if Pangram does this).
