oMLX Creator Jun Kim Joins Hugging Face to Bolster Apple's MLX Local AI Ecosystem

Hugging Face announced that Jun Kim (@jundotkim), creator and maintainer of oMLX, has joined the company. MLX is Apple's framework for local AI on Apple Silicon, which HF has supported since its Christmas 2023 release, and HF's Hub is where people find MLX models.
Impact on oMLX: graduating from a side project to a fully maintained, funded one brings stability and faster development, while staying Apache 2.0 and community-led. For MLX at large: HF aims to unblock local AI on any hardware, with oMLX as a testbed for new ideas and continued upstreaming to projects like mlx-lm, mlx-vlm, and LM Studio.
