Dev impressed by Grok 4.7: it ran all night to build a procedural game map of Boca Chica

Developer Baconbrix shares hands-on impressions of Grok 4.7's 3D capabilities. Asked to prototype a procedural game map based on Boca Chica, Texas, the model worked through the night and delivered surprisingly novel results: biomes, day/night cycles, particles for fireflies and swamp bubbles tied to time of day, dry grass on the west side, streams in water, focused vignetting, and cel-shaded cartoon water.
He was especially struck by how much research the model did before starting — previous models would jump in too quickly or crack partway and need a reset.
