Designing clothes for humanoid robots: fabric serves the mechanism, not the body

A first-hand account of designing garments for a newly built humanoid robot. Unlike human clothing, fabric must serve actuators, joints, heat, sensors and safety first: ordinary shirts can bind shoulder actuators, catch during squats, or block cameras and vents, and garments drift off-axis after dozens of motion cycles.
