Boston Dynamics opens training center at Hyundai Metaplant, plans 25,000 Atlas robots

Boston Dynamics launched the Robotics Metaplant Application Center (RMAC) inside Hyundai Motor Group's Metaplant America campus in Georgia to train Atlas humanoid robots directly in real automotive manufacturing workflows.
- Current training: Atlas is learning logistics and sequencing of automotive parts ahead of assembly; by 2030 applications will extend to component assembly, then repetitive and strenuous tasks like heavy lifting.
- Deployment plan: Hyundai aims to deploy 25,000 Atlas units across Hyundai and Kia global plants over the next few years, backed by a new US facility able to produce 30,000 robots annually.
- Expansion: A move to a larger training facility is already planned for 2027.
