Security veteran Halvar Flake (Thomas Dullien) published slides from his Microsoft BlueHat Singapore talk arguing that computer science is shifting from an exact field to an in-exact, probabilistic one due to AI.
Economists and social scientists resharing the talk note they have long lived in this kind of science: probabilities and distributions over exactness, experiments over theory, non-replicability of findings, small design decisions mattering for results, and inconsistent preferences.
