Andrew Ng's team has open-sourced OpenWorker, a desktop AI coworker that runs locally and delivers finished work instead of chat. It already has 18k+ GitHub stars.
- Positioning: completes real tasks — vulnerability reviews with fixes, polished documents, Slack replies with numbers, inbox triage. It ships specialist Security coworkers first: attackers already use AI, defenders deserve the same leverage, governed.
- Local, model-agnostic: bring your own API key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) or open-weight provider, or run fully local with Ollama; data leaves only via the model and integrations you choose.
- Governed: every agent action is logged.
- Currently in open beta, self-updating, issues welcome.
