Treasury Secretary: Humans, not AI, are responsible — OpenAI management owns the Hugging Face incident

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent commented on the recent incident involving OpenAI and Hugging Face: "It is humans who are responsible, not the AI. The Hugging Face incident — that is the responsibility of the OpenAI management, not a bunch of agents. These labs need to take responsibility for themselves."
VC Bill Gurley added that real consequences will both harden the product and reduce press releases where companies brag about their flaws. Stanford's Chris Manning reshared the discussion.
