OpenAI proposes global AI safety coordination, urges US-led international framework

OpenAI released a proposal for global coordination on AI safety, asking the U.S. to lead an international framework covering capability evaluations, risk assessment, human oversight, and common incident reporting. Standards should track RSI-relevant capability gains and the share of research performed autonomously inside labs, with thresholds triggering immediate human review, the company says.
