PlayCanvas claims most advanced 3D Gaussian splat runtime, streams 15M Gaussians in browser

The PlayCanvas team pitches its open-source engine (16.8k GitHub stars) as the most advanced 3D Gaussian splatting runtime on the web.
- Demo: a house scan by Tony Rose uploaded to SuperSplat with streaming disabled — all 15 million Gaussians loaded and rendered every frame — still runs well in the WebGPU-based renderer on desktop (Performance Mode available for higher FPS).
- The engine is built on WebGL2/WebGPU/WebXR/glTF; getting started via npm install playcanvas or npm create playcanvas@latest.
- A 3DGS community Discord is also available.
