Amazon Blocks Meta's Muse AI Shopping Agent, Escalating Agentic Commerce Standoff
SumitGup · x · 2026-09-22
Amazon has cut off Meta's new Muse personal AI agent from shopping on Amazon.com, saying Meta never sought permission, the agent doesn't identify itself while browsing, and it captures and stores customer credentials, creating privacy and security risks. Users now see a notice that unauthorized AI agents violate Amazon's Conditions of Use.
Meta has previously claimed Muse has no visibility into passwords or payment methods, with credentials kept in secure storage. GeekWire notes Amazon's ad business generates $68B a year, and the standoff signals more dominoes to fall as a new wave of agentic-shopping agreements gets negotiated.
