Princeton CS announced five graduate students named 2027 Siebel Scholars: Linrong Cai, Peter Halmos, Nicolaas Kaashoek, Stephen Newman, and Anchengchen Zhou. Founded in 2000, the program selects 72 fellows annually from 16 universities across the US, China, France, Italy, and Japan, with each fellow receiving a $35,000 award. Their research spans reasoning in vision-language models (Cai, advised by Zhuang Liu), foundational ML and AI for single-cell/spatial biology (Halmos), distributed systems and edge computing (Kaashoek), and cryptography-inspired efficient algorithms (Newman).
