Google appears to be locking down anonymous access to Chromium source

Developer uwukko reports that Google is locking down public, unauthenticated access to chromium-adjacent resources. Pulling Chromium source via gsync from googlesource hit timeout and rate-limit errors, succeeding only after several retries; tarball source releases have been broken for weeks, making git cloning the only way to get fresh Chromium code. The motive is unclear, but the change could be painful for anyone working with Chromium.
