Hugging Face CEO: 3M specialized models are the huge opportunity generalists crowded out

Hugging Face CEO Clement Delangue argues that large generalist models have sucked almost all the oxygen out of AI for years, but huge opportunities lie in specialized, customized models built for specific tasks and languages — orders of magnitude cheaper, faster and more optimized. He notes there are already 3 million such models publicly available on Hugging Face, calling for a much more diverse AI ecosystem.
