Astra is a breakthrough for VFX work where other AI video tools fall short

A new essay for Every by @afterimage argues Astra will be seen as a turning point for creatives using AI in video. The authors tried ComfyUI generative workflows, Python procedural animation, and MCP-based motion design in Cavalry and After Effects, but all were limited by lack of control — changing one thing disturbed everything else, and most tools weren't built for professional workflows. Beyond its known 3D world and game demos, they say Astra stands out as a breakthrough tool specifically for VFX work.
