FloatLib: a Lean-verified arbitrary-precision floating-point library for ML and HPC
AnimaAnandkumar · x · 2026-09-21
Anima Anandkumar's team releases FloatLib, an arbitrary-precision floating-point arithmetic library formally verified in Lean, aiming to combine provable correctness with efficient execution for trustworthy ML and scientific computing. It supports IEEE binary/decimal, arbitrary-width posits, P3109 and small ML formats, lets users define custom formats and rounding rules, and ships Lean proofs for every backend including signed zeros and exceptional values, with optimizations like lookup tables and machine-word kernels.
