Will tokens become money? Open-source models set the price floor near zero

@darkgaro argued that once AI and robotics take a significant share of the economy, tokens won't just cost money — they'll become money: a single Big Mac order could consume 300K tokens (AI taking the order 4K, robot cooking 20K, transporting meat 40K, AI raising cattle 50K, the rest of the supply chain 186K).
@gerardsans pushed back in a quote reply: as compute, tokens are basically worthless — open-source models running on your desktop set a bottom-line price very close to zero for any foreseeable future.
