Exein, a Physical AI security startup, raised $270 million on September 15 at a $1.7 billion valuation, becoming Europe's newest unicorn. The round was led by Headline, with Goldman Sachs, EIB Group, and KfW Capital participating.
Exein embeds security directly into the firmware of AI hardware that senses and acts in the physical world—robots, drones, and cars—enabling real-time threat detection, isolation, and response even when devices are offline.
The company already protects over 2 billion devices, with partners including MediaTek, Supermicro, and Kontron across aerospace, industrial automation, automotive, energy, healthcare, and semiconductors. It is also training a foundation model for Physical AI Security, with a first release planned for Q1 2027.
