BindCraft2 Drops Early: AF2-Centric Protein Design Code Free for All, No Paper Wait
AllThingsApx · x · 2026-09-21
Martin Pacesa announced BindCraft2, releasing the full code immediately and free for both academic and industry use — ahead of the paper — so researchers can start designing right away and apply it to the current Adaptyv competition.
Key changes vs the original BindCraft:
- Drops the PyRosetta dependency in favor of an AlphaFold2 (AF2)-centric design-and-evaluation pipeline
- After design, candidates are re-predicted with a separate AF2 model and filtered using interface-confidence metrics like ipDAE
- Selection emphasizes reproducibility and plausibility of predicted binding modes rather than Rosetta ΔG scores
