Mozilla AI tested how far local models have come for agentic coding: Muse Glimmer (30B) packaged as a single llamafile, driving the Hermes coding agent over local server mode with zero API keys. The agent read a real bug report in the Otari gateway (#183 — vague 502s on image requests), navigated the repo, isolated the bug, branched, ran existing tests, wrote a regression test and opened draft PR #727 — all offline with no hand-written code. Still draft-grade rather than mergeable, but a solid signal that 30B local models are becoming genuinely capable for real dev workflows.
