FANUC demos a cobot that reroutes around people using RL and NVIDIA cuRobo

At AMB in Stuttgart, FANUC America showed a CRX-20iA cobot fitted with two stereo cameras that tracks people in real time instead of halting whenever someone approaches.
- The policy was trained with reinforcement learning in NVIDIA Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab
- When a person enters its path, the robot recomputes its trajectory with NVIDIA cuRobo, moves around them, then smoothly returns to the task; the digital twin stays synced in simulation
- Rationale: stop-on-approach cobots are safe but slow, and frequent interruptions add up to a machine that spends much of its shift waiting, while planning around people keeps it working
